"Egyptian Poet Ahmed Shawqi"

November 26, 2019

Ahmed Shawqi was nicknamed the Prince of Poets due to his clear influence in the modern Arab cultural renaissance. He spent most of his life in exile during the English occupation and he was waging a fierce war against the occupier until he died defending his homeland and the Egyptians’ freedom.

A poet may live far from his homeland in his forced or optional exile, but his country remains close to his heart and spirit until his last breath.
